Thanks to Andy and Graham for organising another good night at Hitchin FC. Owing to various Christmas celebrations my friends were unable to join me, so I drove up to Hitchin on my own, thanks to TomTom I managed to arrive in the right place at about 8.45. Not quite so many in, guess it is the time of the year. But I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Andy and Graham were on the decks when I walked in playing a Northern set. They were followed by Bill McNamara, who kept the tempo going with records such as Girl I've Got News For You, I Can't Change, I Was Born To Love You, etc. Graham and Andy took over for half an hour and were followed by guest DJ Karl Boddington, someone who I haven't seen DJing before. He did a nice set, mixing Northern and Modern together, which can be quite tricky imo. Karl said he'd post his playlist up on here, I hope the other DJs will do the same, always nice to see a list of what was played, especially if, like me, your memory is blank the next day. Tony Worot was next, he played mainly 60s Northern sounds, but did a couple of 70s as well, Anything I Can Do sticks in my memory. Molly took over from Tony, starting, I think, with Nevertheless by Lee Andrews and the Hearts, classic Northern, continuing with a good mix of sounds including Karmello Brooks' Tell Me Baby. Thanks to him for playing Feminine Ingenuity, sorry my requests are so predictable, but it's a great record imo. He closed his set with some really tasty Crossover including Margie Joseph's One More Chance, the Hesitations' Is That The Way To Treat A Girl, Girl I've Been Trying To Tell You, and the sublime Four Wonders. The evening ended with Graham and Andy playing the last spot. Good to see some of my friends there, a lot of people were commenting that I didn't spend the whole evening on the dance floor, was I okay? Yes, okay, just had more problems with my right foot, the most boring thing in the world, so have to be a bit careful at the moment, much to my frustration, thanks for your concern. Left around 1.30ish, and I was glad of my SatNav as it did manage to get me to the A1M, seemed to be a totally different route from the way I got there, but so what, I got home okay. A bit tired today though.
